Thinking the climate: A dialogue between science and philosophy

Elisa Palazzi Università di Torino
Vincenzo Crupi Università di Torino; Scuola di Studi Superiori Ferdinando Rossi, Torino

At the intersection of scientific data on climate change and philosophical reflection, a space opens up to guide informed decision-making toward a sustainable future. This interdisciplinary dialogue, led by a climatologist and a philosopher of science, will explore topics such as climate complexity, the interpretation of climate models - often affected by uncertainty - the understanding of the temporal scales that govern weather and climate phenomena, and, more broadly, the role of science in contemporary society. Philosophy can help us reflect on issues such as trust in science and its methods, the communication of climate risk to the general public, and climate and intergenerational justice. The integration of disciplines can offer a compass for navigating the complexities of our time.
