Biography
Nicolò is a PhD candidate in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change (PhD SDC) program at IUSS Pavia, specializing in complex systems. His research focuses on complex networks, climate change impacts, and quantitative risk assessment, drawing on statistical-physics methods to characterize systemic behaviour in coupled natural and socio-economic systems. He collaborates with researchers in civil engineering, the social sciences, and physics on interdisciplinary problems in complex-systems analysis. His goal is to develop network-based approaches to risk assessment that translate complex-systems theory into operational tools for analyzing systemic risk.
As a student tutor, he gained experience in team supervision and collaborative learning. He holds a master’s degree in physics from the Politecnico di Torino, and during his PhD he completed a visiting research period at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
