Biography
Savino Fumarulo is a PhD candidate in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change (PhD SDC) program at IUSS Pavia. His research focuses on the assessment of emerging technologies for decarbonization, including thin-film solar PV, lithium-metal batteries, and high-temperature superconductors. During his PhD, he designed a methodology to integrate technology risk and long-term scalability into techno-economic models, with the aim of informing policymakers and investors involved in the development and scale-up of early-stage clean technologies.
During his PhD, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Industrial Engineering at TU Eindhoven, where he built a model for the assessment of emerging battery cells. The model was later validated and adopted by policymakers for the selection of research projects related to innovative battery technologies.
He collaborates closely with MITO Technology, a venture capital firm focused on deep-tech startups for decarbonization. He holds a master’s degree in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano
